It allows users to import a new foreground object into a background image in Photoshop, thereby removing the background. This is accomplished by importing the new foreground object as a separate layer.
By clicking the ‘Harmonise’ button, the foreground image is relighted, and the light direction, tonal range, and colour palette of the foreground image are automatically matched to those of the background image.
In the event that the foreground image already contains lighting that is baked in, Project Perfect Blend will automatically de-light it before applying the new lighting structure.
Additionally, it creates shadows that are cast by the new foreground onto the objects that are surrounding it, which helps to blend it in a seamless manner with the background.
It is one of those tools that appears to be something that could be immediately useful, and it is something that we might see soon being included in the version of Photoshop that is available for commercial use.
